Depicting a monk approaching a Monastic doorway, bearing a basket in one head and carrying a sheaf of corn, the latter concealing a human figure, mounted in a gilded frame -- 16¾ x 13in. (42.5 x 33cm.) overall

Lot Essay

A similar mezzotint was sold in these rooms, 8th October 1988. This version was entitled beneath the subject and engraved by J. Johnson after F. Francisco.
