It is with great pleasure that NYWinesChristie's commence our fall
season of wine sales wine sales with this quite incredible collection, which is without question one of the finest cellars to appear at
auction so far this year.
We are most honored that the owner has chosen to sell this collection here in New York City as it comes to us from what can only be described as one of the greatest cellars in the Far East. Put together over many years by a very careful, knowledgeable and passionate collector; it represents only the very best that the world of fine and rare wine has to offer.
As is custom, all wines have been inspected both, prior to, and following shipment by Christie's Wine Department Specialists. No wine collector we know of takes more care and meticulous attention to detail than the owner of this magnificent collection. Temperature and humidity controlled at all times, the vast majority of these wines were purchased direct from the Domaines or Chateaux or en-primeur from the most highly regarded sources. As for the wines condition, we have visited and inspected this cellar over the course of a number of years during which time we have had the pleasure of enjoying many of the fabulous wines from it. Rhone, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne, and at varying stages of maturity have always been as expected, superb.

Level: bottom neck; Whitwhams capsule, back label reads "re-corked at Whitwhams on the 5/Feb/1996".
Latour made superlative wines in both the 1928 and 1929 vintages
(unlike Lafite and Haut-Brion), the '29 being endowed with great
richness and depth, velvety sweetness and great length. Top marks - a
perfect drink when last noted in September 1995. MB
