Château Gruaud-Larose--Vintage 1982
Saint-Julien, 2me cru classé
Levels: bottom neck or better
I have had this wine a number of times and it just gets better, in
terms of pure enjoyment it is not far off the first growths and in time it may even eclipse one or two of them; it may also turn out to be as good as the profound 1961. An even deepish red color. The nose is
jammed with rustic dark plums, truffles, warm smoky old wood and
tobacco. On the palate this is a delicous wine, strong, robust; it
grips and fills the mouth. This is Gruaud at its best and anyone who
has not had this classic Bordeaux red should endeavor to do so without delay. DW
