Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1982
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Surprisingly forthcoming nose, sweet, with lovely strawberry-like fruit, then spice (cinnamon) harmonious, fragrant, lingering. On the palate a soft, rich entry (a feature of all wines made from very ripe grapes, and high in alcohol, a combination associated more with the top California Cabernets). Fairly full-bodied yet with a feminine style. Lovely middle palate, good length, tannin high but well masked by fruit and extract. A fine wine. M.B.
