A CANTEEN OF GERMAN SILVER FLATWARE BASICALLLY FOR TWELVE PERSONS
Mostly bearing the mark of Dux or J.A. Henckells, late 19th/early 20th century
die-stamped with a part ribbed and foliate wreath design and engraved with an initial "S", (except some odd items) comprising: FIRST DRAWER - 12 table knives, 12 table forks, 12 hors-d'oeuvre knives; TOGETHER WITH 12 non-matching plated pastry forks. SECOND DRAWER - 12 table or soup spoons, 12 dessert knives, 12 dessert forks and 12 teaspoons. THIRD DRAWER - 12 fish knives, 12 fish forks, 12 hors-d'oeuvre forks TOGETHER WITH 12 non-matching plated pastry knives. FOURTH DRAWER - 12 parcel-gilt ice cream spoons, a pair of large serving spoons TOGETHER WITH a non-matching plated basting spoon and 12 non-matching parcel-gilt coffee spoons. FIFTH DRAWER - a pair of sauce ladles, a pair of salad spoons, 4 fruit serving spoons, a flat spoon, possibly for ice cream, and a pair of cake servers, all parcel-gilt, a fish serving slice and fork, a long fork and four slightly smaller forks, a curved blade serving slice, a butter spreader and a spatular; TOGETHER WITH a non-matching plated bread fork and sugar spoon. Weighable silver 202 ozs. All contained in a plain wood cabinet with spaces for other pieces
