Arita Ware, Edo period (18th-19th century)
Molded in an irregular eight-lobe shape and set on a high foot and painted in underglaze-cobalt blue with two mirrored gourd-shaped panels containing a blossoming iris, the area around the panels decorated with a dense floral scroll and the rim banded in the interior with cloud patterns and the edge of the rim glazed with brown iron-oxide; the outside of the dish painted with two chrysanthemums and the foot with a thick foliate band; four spur marks and a stylized fuku mark on the bottom
