Cast as a kappa standing with one foot on top of a large cucumber, his head covered with a large leave from the vine of the same vegetable; set on a separately cast four-legged stand finished to resemble a woven straw mat; greenish-brown patina

Lot Essay

Shokaken was the art name of tsuba maker Keibi who worked in Mutsu province (Aomori prefecture) in the late Edo period.
