This Oribe type sake flask is a rarity among Kakurezaki's signature Bizen-style works. Kakurezaki has won numerous juried exhibitions including the Japan Ceramic Society Prize. His work is included in museum collections worldwide, and he exhibits regularly in Japan. He established his kiln in Isogami, Okayama Prefecture in 1985 after a long apprenticeship with Jun Isezaki (b. 1936). This flask, potted thickly and carved, was fired in an electric kiln using Shino clay mixed with clay from Hiroshima.
