Coromandel coast, second half 17th Century and later
The pierced rectangular back carved in low relief with scrolling foliage and flowers, the shaped arched toprail flanked by pineapple finials above a gallery of spirally-turned spindles and a caned seat with later rails to the front and sides, on rope-twist legs joined by conforming stretchers and on block feet, seat-rails and front legs later
