A Dutch burr-walnut striking musical longcase clock
Early 20th Century
Inlaid overall with fruitwood lines, the arched mouled hood with concave caddy-top lacking figural finials, with pierced sound frets to the front and sides and with turned pilasters, the arched shaped rectangular trunk door with a glazed lenticle and a gilt-metal mount, the bombé plinth inlaid with floral marquetry, on paw-and-ball feet, the dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted and engraved centre with silvered seconds ring, month, date and day aperture, with rolling moonphase and with silvered spurious plaque inscribed Paulus Bramer Amsteldam, above a painted scene depicting shepherd and his flock, a flute playing figure and a female figure, with melody change lever, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells, with fifteen bells via thirty hammers playing six melodies
