Carel Kadel (1770-after 1833) was born in Ehrenbreitstein in 1770. He worked as a pianomaker in Amsterdam. From 1827 onwards he worked in Brussels. Martha Novak-Clinkscale, Makers of the piano, Oxford, 1993.

Crossbanded overall, the canted rectangular hinged top with hinged flap to the front, enclosing an interior with soundboard signed and dated C: Kadel Fecit Amsterdam 1818, above the keyboard with forty three ivory, and thirty ebony keys, signed Carel Kadel/Fecit/Amsterdam/Ano 1818, within a shaped oval, above a lyre-shaped support with four pedals, on octagonal tapering legs, on turned tapering brass feet
