Freycinet and his wife spent several days as Macquarie's guests at Government House, Parramatta. Freycinet drew the house and the church during their stay, sketches which were presumably the models for Marchais' engraver's drawing. The proof engravings describe the subjects by Marchais 'd'après un dessin communiqué.'

The two figures in the gardens of Government House in the second drawing are probably Rose de Freycinet and Mrs Macquarie. The figures, retained in the plate, provide the only image of Rose on the voyage that survived the censor.
