Lot Essay

The manuscript is a manual outlining the rituals for the three ascending stages of initiation into the cult of the Pascimamnaya. Beginning with a 4-line fragment of a medical text, the main text commences on folio 3 with the first diagram. On ff.7-12 the left half of each of these sides, is a picture of the arrangement of letters in each of the six chakras. On pp. 13-17 are texts concerning Brahmarandhra(?), Sadasiva, and Akasa (13), Isvara (14), Rudra (15), Vishnu and Kantha (16) and Brahma, Hrdaya, and Prithvi (17), each with a diagram of the chakra and its distribution of letters. The reverse side includes a diagram of the yonigahvaraprastara (without identifying it). The matrka is worshipped in the persons of letter-deities. The text finishes on page 54 with a mantrakasaraprastarah.
