Provenance
The brand on this reading table responds to that for Cumberland Lodge which was occupied at this date by Prince and Princess Christian of Schleswig-Holstein - Princess Christian was the daughter of Queen Victoria. Although it is not traceable in the surviving inventory it probably dates from the 1820's. It is probably not indigenous to Cumberland Lodge and may have come from another residence to furnish the house for Prince and Princess Christian.
