A PAIR OF CARVED RED LACQUER DOUBLE-GOURD VASES
Qianlong period (1736-1795)
Each vase well carved on the upper and lower body with four circular medallions, those on the upper body enclosing the character da, those on the lower body the character ji, reserved on a diaper ground within a ruyi-head border surrounded by a dense ground of lotus scroll and the bajixiang, the waist encircled by a green-lacquered 'ribbon' tied in bows at the sides, all between pendent scroll-filled blades below the mouth and on the spreading foot
