AN UNDERGLAZE-BLUE AND IRON-RED BOWL
Daoguang seal mark and of the period (1821-1850)
Painted on the exterior with underglaze-blue lotus blossoms issuing from a continuous scroll set below iron-red bajixiang; together with another underglaze-blue and iron-red small bowl decorated with lotus sprays, with eight-character Guangxu ding wei yu hai tang zhi mark, Guangxu period; and a blue and white bowl, Guangxu mark and of the period, the deep rounded sides painted with prunus, pine and bamboo, between double-line borders, with a foliate motif in the center of the interior

Lot Essay

The mark on the cup, Guangxu ding wei yu hai tang zhi, may be translated, 'Made in the ding wei year of the Guangxu period (1907) for the Sea of Jade Hall'
