A Japanese twin sectioned bronze box and cover
19th century
the sections of circular and curved octagonal form, decorated in silver and gilt, one with inset bronze panel decorated with a mouse and its young dressed in robes carrying bundles supported upon a pole, the other with lacquer and metal panel, decorated with crane wading in a river beneath a willow tree, the sides incised with a seated scholar amongst pine -- 4¾in. (12cms) long.
