A large Mandarin pattern ewer and cover
18th century
with seated Buddhistic lion finial, painted and gilt with panels of ladies and gentlemen at leisure on riverside terraces and smaller sepia tone panels of retreats in river landscapes, within underglaze blue trailing foliage and floral borders, on a gilt scroll ground reserved with scattered flowers -- 14in. (35.5cms) high, (gilt heavily rubbed to cover, few small chips).
