LECTURE TOUR OF AUSTRALASIA, 1891-92
New South Wales. A presentation album of 50 albumen prints of Sydney and environs, the prints 8¾ x 10¾in. (222 x 273mm.) and similar, mounted on the recto and verso of 25 cream card leaves, , titled in gilt on the spine 'NEW SOUTH/WALES'; with three honorary memberships and illuminated welcomes from the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia (Victoria branch, 14 November 1891, Queensland branch, 14 December 1891); and two half coconut shells, indistinctly inscribed '1896/Kava (Yaugona)(?) ... given me by the ... Roko Jui Khandavu . (?)...' on old labels stuck to the shells.
The Stanleys tour of Australia and New Zealand started soon after they got back from North America. The lot includes a few curious momentoes and souvenirs of this trip. (6)
