Lot Essay

This 'event' was part of the First National Sculpture Exhibition held at Coventry Cathedral in June 1968, and involved John and Yoko planting two acorns under a white wrought-iron garden seat. John and Yoko's conceptual work was considered unsuitable to be included in the official exhbition catalogue, and so they produced their own version, which was distributed free of charge.

The vendor's uncle obtained these signatures from a friend of his who was a nurse at Queen Charlotte's hospital at the time Yoko Ono was admitted suffering a miscarriage in November 1968. According to the vendor, John and Yoko signed several brochures for the nursing staff who had looked after Yoko.
