The four early 20th Century chairs were made in the cabinet-works set up in Dundee after the First World War by (Field-Marshall) Lord Roberts to give employment to soldiers who had been disabled.

Each with shield-shaped backs with foliate carved vertical splats, the upholstered seats on square tapering legs joined by stretchers; the four later chairs bearing a label inscribed LORD ROBERTS MEMORIAL WORKSHOPS, LADYWELL CABINET WORKS, DUNDEE (10)
