Lot Essay

The borders of this tapestry correspond closely to those of a set illustrating The Life of Samson that was formerly in the Burgos Cathedral and which are recorded to be by Frans Geubels (Circa 1520 - 1581) (E. Duverger, Tapijtwerk uit het Atelier van Frans Geubels, De Bloeitijd van de Vlaamse Tapijtkunst, Brussels, 1969, pp. 122 - 129).
