An Italian pewter inlaid, ormolu, semi-precious stone, and ivory-mounted ebonised cabinet-on-stand**,
First half 19th century,
The superstructure inlaid overall with geometric banding, the angles clasped with pierced mounts depicting dogs and deer, the front set with twenty-two lapis veneered drawers, each set with medallions of a Roman emperor facing his spouse, the center with an architectural drawer above a door with a central oval medallion of Romulus and Remus, flanked by Corinthian columns and opening to a plain interior with simulated leather-lining, above a breakfront drawer, the sides with carrying handles, on lion-cast supports, the later stand with similar banding, on squared tapering legs joined by X-stretchers
