PROPERTY FROM THE GARNETT A. AND HARRY K. SMITH ESTATE
When Harry K. Smith married Garnett Anderson in 1937, he was a struggling welding equipment salesman. Living on a shoestring budget, Harry made his deliveries out of the back seat of their car and Garnett would join him. They were young and in love, but Harry promised his new bride that things would be better for them someday.
Harry K. Smith held true to his promise. In 1948, Harry took over a fledging family business, Big Three Industries, Inc. and transformed the enterprise into a Fortune 500 company. Prosperous and successful, he retired as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer in 1968.
Harry delighted in surprising Garnett with an array of unique and custom-made jewelry. Over the span of their 52-year marriage, she accumulated many beautiful and treasured gifts. After Garnett's death in January of 1989, Harry placed the jewelry in a safe deposit box where it remained untouched until Harry himself passed away in June 2002. Harry and Garnett's daughter, Stacy Dudevszky, decided to keep a few sentimental pieces of her mother's, but the majority of this elegant collection is being offered to the public.
This jewelry played an important role in Garnett and Harry's full lives. It graced Garnett at many international business and social occasions over the years.
