Lot Essay

The knot count is 9 vertical by 8.8 horizontal per cm. At the base of ecah of the two central palmettes is what appears to be a heavily stylised human face . This is a feature that appears on a small group of Koum Kapi rugs of very similar weave to the present example which almost all have animals and animal combat groups. It is probable that this is the signature of another Koum Kapi master.
