Circa 1825, underglaze blue sceptre above stencilled brown eagle over K.P.M. mark, painter's black sickle mark, Pressnummer 32, impressed // to footrim
The buff-ground border painted by Gottfried Wilhelm Völker with a garland of Lathyrus odorata. named in black script on the reverse, within a narrow gilt band, the well with a broad gilt band enclosing a band of gilt palmettes and foliage (slight rubbing to well)
9½ in. (24.2 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Given by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia to his son in law, Prince Friedrich of the Netherlands on the occasion of his marriage to his daughter, Princess Louise, and thence by descent to Marie zu Wied, Princess of the Netherlands and sold by her executors, Sotheby's London, May 1967.
