The presentation inscription reads: "PRESENTED TO WILLIAM HAY. ESQUIRE BY THE INHABITANTS OF DUNSE, AS A TOKEN OF THEIR ESTEEM FOR HIM; AND OF GRATITUDE FOR THE LIBERAL MANNER IN WHICH HE HAS ALLOWED THEM TO OBTAIN A Supply of Water from his Grounds AT DUNSE CASTLE 1835"
