FIRST EDITION, offprint issue, of Fermi's report describing the first controlled nuclear chain reaction acheived by humankind, which took place on December 2, 1942 at the University of Chicago. Fermi's report remained classified for nearly ten years. This copy of the report is from the collection of George Weil, Fermi's assistant, who operated the cadmium control rods in Fermi's atomic pile during the experiment. Very scarce.
