A follow-up to Heisenberg's important 1925 paper on the quantum-theoretical reformulation of mechanics and kinematics, which had received a great deal of attention among physicists and mathematicians. Heisenberg's work formed part of the flurry of papers on quantum mechanics that followed the publication of "Zur Quantenmechanik II," the famous "three-man" paper by Born, Heisenberg and Jordan that laid the foundations of quantum mechanics.
