FIRST EDITION, AN HISTORIC PRESENTATION COPY OF ONE OF SODDY'S MOST IMPORTANT BOOKS, INSCRIBED TO ERNEST RUTHERFORD on the front free endpaper: "Professor Rutherford FRS with the Author's kind regards." Soddy developed the disintegration theory of radioactivity with Rutherford during 1901-03. Rutherford called Soddy "an admirable writer and a clear and interesting lecturer" (quoted in DSB).
