FIRST EDITION, with two manuscripts corrections on pp.267 and 281 possibly in Lord Kelvin's hand. These are the fourth and fifth parts of Kelvin's memoir. "This memoir was an example of exquisite codification of isolated points, and a masterly exposition, freed from unnecessary hypotheses, of the new developments of the theory" (Sivanus P. Thompson, The Life of Lord Kelvin, pp.280-83).
