CATHER, Willa. Youth and the Bright Medusa. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1926.
8o. Original blue cloth (light wear to extremities). Provenance: Isabelle McClung (presentation inscription).
Later edition. AN INTIMATE ASSOCIATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY CATHER TO HER LOVER, ISABELLE MCCLUNG, on the half title: "To Isabelle, a little book for travel, with my love, Willa." McClung and Cather met at school and became inseperable, with McClung playing the role of lover, patron and muse. In 1916, McClung married violinist Jan Hambourg, but she stayed close to Cather, as the present inscription in a book published in 1925 attests. Cather dedicated The Troll Garden and The Song of the Lark to McClung. This is the Borzoi Pocket Book edition, following the fifth printing from June 1923. Crane A10a.vi.
