NABOKOV, Vladimir. Speak Memory. An Autobiography Revisited. New York: Putnam's Son, 1966 [i.e. 1967].

8o. Original cloth, spine gilt-lettered (spine ends faded and slightly bumped); dust jacket, lower panel with portrait photograph by J.M. Schlemmer (some wear and light chipping to edges of panels, joint of lower panel splitting). Provenance: VLADIMIR NABOKOV (his emendations, estate bookplate on front paste down).

NABOKOV'S ANNOTATED WORKING COPY, with emendations on 16 pages in pencil and red pencil; nearly all of these changes are listed by Nabokov on the half-title.

Second revised edition, first revised English-language edition of Conclusive Evidence, "covering thirty-seven years, from August 1903 to May 1940, with only a few sallies into later space-time..."; with a foreword by Nabokov detailing the history of the evolution of his memoir, and with 18 photographs.

The dust jacket is marked (but almost completely diminished), "Corrected (see...)" and in pencil "Author's copy." Nabokov marked the spine panel of the dust jacket with a "V" to distinguish it from Véra's copy which, though similarly labeled "Vé". This is a HEAVILY CORRECTED COPY: numerous emendations appear here--including word changes, insertions, a date change, and several spelling corrections. On the half-title Nabokov noted which changes were made on the Penguin galleys. Juliar A26.5.
