FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 504 of 550 copies (this being one of 50 copies "for presentation") signed by O'Neill. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY O'NEILL TO CHERYL CRAWFORD on the front free endpaper: "To Cheryl Crawford with all good wishes! Eugene O'Neill Christmas 1931."

A SUPERB ASSOCIATION COPY: O'Neill's gift to legendary Broadway producer Cheryl Crawford, the casting director for the 1931 Theater Guild production which "remains one of [O'Neill's] outstanding achievements" (O'Neill: Son and Artist, by Louise Schaeffer, Boston, 1973, page 370). Cheryl Crawford went on to become one of the most influential producer-directors in post-war American theater. She was also close to Tennessee Williams. Atkinson A32-I-I.b.
