PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED TO THE NOVELIST JAMES JONES on the front free endpaper: "To Jamie - from the man whose picture on the back flap shows that Adam wasn't the only beauty in the family - with love - Irwin." The front pastedown is annotated by Jones's widow Gloria: "This is a book belonging to my Husband James Jones, 4-17-94. P.S. Jamie was his name, Gloria Jones."
