Of circular form with removable copper-liner within a gadrooned ormolu edging and butterfly mounts to the frieze, raised on three foliate-mounted cabriole legs with paw feet on a shaped tripartite plinth with bun feet and inset casters, inscribed 393/414 in white chalk to the underside and with an ink stamp LESAGE, RUE GRAN..../PARIS

The indistinct stamp to the underside of this jardinière refers to Antoine-Nicolas Lesage (1784 - 1841), who was one of the most important marchands of his period. He was established in the rue Grange-Batelière between 1821 and 1837.
