A Victorian parcel-gilt japanned purdonium, circa 1860
Of domed oval form, lacquered scrolling finial, side handles and legs, lacquered tin liner -- 19¾in. (50.2cm.) wide overall; a pair of brass andirons modelled as phoenixes, late 19th or early 20th century, the claw and ball monopodium stamped R.N 89003 -- 13in. (33xm.) high; two brass toasting forks, early 20th century, one stamped WINCHESTER ST CROSS and cast with coat-of-arms, the reverse stamped with registration number 675886 -- 19¾in. (50.2cm.) high; another with the Guernsey coat-of-arms cast finial, writhen shaft and revolving tyne, stamped PROV PAT 24329 -- 18in. (45.7cm.) high; and one pokerette, early 20th century the finial cast and entitled TOM PINCH, lacking terminal -- 16in. (40.6cm.) high; a brass and wire-mesh firescreen, early 20th century, with baluster frieze, on splayed legs -- 31¾in. (80.7cm.) high; a brass kettle stand, the open semi-spherical frame on writhen stem and paw monopodiae -- 26¼in. (66.6cm.) high; and a brass kettle, early 20th century with stamped decoration and semi-lobed underside, turned fruit wood handle, silvered interior -- 11in. (28cm.) wide approx; and a brass and cast iron hearth stand or trivet, early 20th century, the pierced platform bearing a coat-of-arms flanked by unicorn and lion passant, stamped beneath NISI DOMINICO NOSTRUM EST -- 15¾in.
