The cartouche-shaped padded back and circular seat upholstered in blue velvet, the frame carved with ribbon-ties and beading on voluted foliate-carved legs, with handwritten numbers to underside 5349 and M3256

This model of fauteuil, with its very distinctively fluted seatrail and scroll-headed cabriole leg is illustrated P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, 1989, p.412-413. Another similar pair of fauteuils, with molded rails and attributed to Georges Jacob, is in the collection of the Museé Carnavalet, Paris and illustrated Forray-Carlier, Le Mobilier du Museé Carnavalet, Paris, 2000, pp. 192-193.
