THREE MARINID CARVED WOODEN BEAMS
Morocco, probably Fes, 14th century
One with a series of nine cusped arches containing stylised kufic letters together with split palmettes, the spandrels with floral motifs, similar part arches at each end, a band of rosettes above, slight traces of polychrome, surface rubbed, slight cracks and damages to extremities, the second beam with seven similar cusped arched panels divided by arabesque secondary motifs, the arches breaking into the upper rosette band, rubbed, slight damages, one end restored, narrow frame, the third with the top of a similar design on a larger scale with knotted kufic dividing the cusped arches, weathered, one end restored
