Shiraz, mid-16th century
Manuscript on gold-sprinkled paper, 489ff. with 10ll. of fine black muhaqqaq, sura headings in white naskh on illuminated panels, gold rosettes between verses, illuminated marginal cartouches marking every fifth and tenth verse, two finely illuminated opening bifolios, sura al-baqara with illuminated heading, three similarly illuminated closing bifolios including falnameh, contemporary gold lacquer binding with tooled arabesques, slight smudging and staining, old restorations, otherwise good condition
