Attributed to 'Abbas Shirazi, but more probably by Sani' Humayun, Iran, late 19th century
With rounded ends and sliding tray, the top painted with a vertical composition of scantily clad voluptuous ladies before a European lady in seventeenth century costume being pawed by a bearded old man and accompanied by a posing aesthete, in a landscape with ducks in the foreground, the sides with ladies visiting dervishes, or youths visiting sages, all within landscapes, the red base and tray with gold meandering palmette vine, the interior with fitted silver inkwell, very slight restoration, re-lacquered

The style of painting of this penbox is completely consistent with that of Sani' Humayun. It is probable that the "signature" of Abbas Shirazi is a later erroneous attribution.
