With sloping rim on short foot, the centre painted with a radiating bouquet of floral sprays forming a drop-shaped panel flanked by hyacinth and tulip sprays, in a stylised wave and scrolling motif border, the underside with alternating blue and green motifs, rim fritted

Lot Essay

The design on this dish is a slightly later version of one which was first used at Iznik around 1565-70 (Atasoy, Nurhan and Raby, Julian: Iznik, the Pottery of Ottoman Turkey, London, 1989, no.685 for example).
