Lot Essay

Sir John Lord Owen, 1st Bt., of the second creation, eldest son of Joseph Lord, of co. Pembroke, by Corbetta, his wife, daughter of Lt.-Gen. John Owen, and grand-daughter of Sir Arthur Owen, 3rd Bt. He assumed the surname and arms of Owen and was created a Baronet in 1813. He was born in 1776, married firstly, 1800, Charlotte, daughter of Rev. John L. Phillips, and had issue including three daughters: Maria (m. 1830), Ellen (m. 1831) and Eliza (m. 1831), and a son, Hugh Owen.
