A pair of Derby figure groups
Circa 1780
Probably emblematic of Spring and Autumn from a set of the Seasons, Spring modelled as a gallant and companion as gardeners among plant pots and tubs, Autumn modelled as a couple of vintners holding a flask and a basket of grapes above a barrel, both on high rocky-moulded mounds enriched with turquoise, white and gilt scrolls (Spring, with his right hand replaced, her left arm restored, some general minor chipping)
