A long jamawar shawl, each end woven with a niche enclosing elongated boteh with scrolling palm tips, interlaced with serpentine vines and curving fronds, the borders with interlocking palmette cartouches against a striped ground, with residual cruciform field of black wool, with calligraphic cartouche embroidered in ivory silks to one corner and further inscription to the field, Kashmir, 19th century--134in. x 53in.
