Lot Essay

These machines, which used the motor of the Style No. 3 in a Style No 5 case, sold in the 1903-4 period as economy models; early examples, such as this, used left-over Style No 5 cases, but most have similar cases, purpose-made. Like many such early gramophones, this example was later refurbished for use in a shop display.
