Of rectangular form, with stylized silver-gilt mount, the porcelain cover, sides and base painted with floral sprays, the inside cover with a portrait of the Empress Elizaveta Petrovna wearing an hermine-trimmed robe, a sash and star of the Order of St. Andrew and a crown, apparently unmarked

Lot Essay

Porcelain snuff-boxes were especially widespread in the 18th Century. Records at the Imperial Porcelain Factory show that the first orders for porcelain snuff-boxes were executed in 1753 for the Empress Elisaveta Petrovna and Grand Duke Peter.
