A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER CANDLESTICKS WITH GEORGE IV FIVE-LIGHT BRANCHES
The candlesticks with mark of Paul Storr, London, 1808, the branches with mark of Robert Garrard II, London, 1826
The candlesticks, each with flaring stems of square section, on slightly domed circular base, with outcurved fluted calyx, with guilloche and water-leaf borders, cast and chased with diaperwork and rosettes, shell and scroll motifs, husking, rocaille and acanthus foliage, the partly-fluted flaring urn-shaped socket chased with diaperwork, rosettes, strapwork and scrolls, filled, marked on footrim; the branches with similar sockets, the central light within cast and chased acanthus leaves, guilloche and rosette borders, the four foliate scroll branches each with rosette terminal below, with partly-fluted urn-shaped socket, the circular drip-pans and nozzles with guilloche borders, each engraved with a crest, marked on base of branches, drip-pans, sockets, and nozzles
