The crest is that of the Duke of Newcastle

These were made for Henry Pelham-Clinton, 4th Duke of Newcastle (1785-1851) to match an existing pair by Craig & Neville of 1741. Both pairs were sold by the 7th Duke of Newcastle as consecutive lots, Christie's, London, July 7, 1921, lots 31 and 32.
