Riesling 'Hugel' Séléction de Grains Nobles--Vintage 1976
Alsace. Hugel
One of Hugel's greatest-ever Rieslings. Picked 20 October (1976), at 142 degrees Oechsle. Slow fermentation until July 1977. Alcohol 12.8 residual sugar 52g/l.
Several notes, most recently at Hugel's 'late-harvested' tasting in London, April 2002. Colour of old gold; perfectly harmonious, creamy, raisiny bouquet; very sweet, peach-like flavour, rich, ripe, lovely texture. Perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. MB
